Altogether, the 6 EU-CONEXUS partner universities, promote European values and identity, and revolutionise the quality and competitiveness of European higher education. It is a new kind of alliance and university, innovative, forward thinking that brings added value at different scales.
The benefits brought by the project will concern a large range of populations: students, researchers, socio-economic actors, as well as the general public and local and national governments. EU-CONEXUS opens up opportunities to develop your hometown. The alliance will support regional economic development and policy making, in order to create a coherent approach to coastal zone management by respecting and putting forward regional and cultural similarities and differences. It will emphasize cooperation and interaction between partner universities through multi-disciplinary and transnational study programmes and courses based on industry needs. The main focus of EU-CONEXUS university-industry cooperation is to offer an integrative, holistic and widespread approach to regional sustainable economic development of coastal areas. Moreover, EU-CONEXUS puts forward experts’ intervention to solve challenges of urbanised coasts.
By training tomorrow’s professionals, allowing research to focus on coastal areas’ sustainability and creating a synergy between the university community and the industry, the project aims to create a better quality of life on the coasts and a sustainable coastal development and maritime tourism.
