Agricultural University of Athens is the first university in the country which participates in an epidemiological coronavirus tracking test of massive scale
In the framework of the cooperation between the Agricultural University of Athens with the National Organization of Public Health (EODY), blood samples were taken from specialized EODY teams, during the period 1-2 October 2020, at a specially designed area of the University (at the Sideri amphitheater) for the voluntary screening of coronavirus antibodies in members of the AUA community.
The results of this research will significantly help both to improve our knowledge on the epidemiological development of the virus in the general population and the possible development of immunity against it. The voluntary response of the AUA community to this invitation and the consequent participation of the staff from all branches (teaching, research and administration) of the Agricultural University was massive, with a total of 273 participants.
The sample collection process was carried out under complete safety conditions and protection of personal data. It is worth noting that the Agricultural University of Athens is the first university in the country to participate in an epidemiological coronavirus tracking test of such scale.
