A new Research Council formed at EU-CONEXUS
EU-CONEXUS formed its Research Council. Dr. Darius Daunys, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of Klaipėda University, was elected its Chairman. The term of office of the Chairman of the EU-CONEXUS Research Council will last until the end of the next year.
“The Research Council is responsible for the drafting and development of the common scientific policy of EU-CONEXUS. It consists of the Vice-Rectors for Research of all the alliance partners and associates. Together we shall have to agree on the future priorities and goals of the alliance,” says dr. Darius Daunys. He makes no secret of the fact that he is to face a considerable test of diplomatic skills in reconciling the often very different interests of the higher education institutions operating in the alliance.
EU-CONEXUS unites almost 42 thousand students, over 5,400 academic staff, 34 faculties, and 65 research groups. The goals of the alliance are joint study programmes, joint bachelor and master’s diplomas, intense academic and scientific exchanges, the development of a smart campus, implementation of innovative teaching methods, etc. The outcome of the consistent integration process include the first joint bachelor’s programme specialisms, which started this year, the ongoing international accreditation procedure for the joint master’s programme Marine Biotechnology, and the preparation for the presentation of another joint programme Smart Sustainable Coastal Development. EU-CONEXUS’ ambition in the field of research is four joint research institutes and a joint doctoral programme.
