UTCB organized The Third European Conference on Earthquake Engineering and Seismology, 3ECEES, in Bucharest, Romania
Between 4-9 September, our partners from The Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest and their colleagues from the Romanian National Institute for Earth Physics – INFP organized The Third European Conference on Earthquake Engineering and Seismology (https://3ecees.ro/), 3ECEES. The high-level event was held under the High Patronage of the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis.
Throughout the 6 days of the event, more than 700 top specialists on Earthquake Engineering and Seismology, from all over the world, discussed salient and globally relevant topics from the Earthquake Engineering and Seismology fields, with keynotes addressing topics such as: the new seismic imaging methods in Europe using noise, seismology beyond Earth, Earthquake and Structural Engineering Science for Civil Protection, optimum design of seismic joints in bridges, as well as magnitudes and related topics relevant to hazard input.
The conference provided a creative and stimulating environment for numerous fruitful discussions among top representatives from the research, engineering and academic fields as well as relevant representatives from the construction field, who shared the latest studies and breakthroughs with the aim of identifying means of seismic risk reduction at the same time with promoting Earthquake Engineering and Seismology with the purpose of attaining enhanced societal seismic resilience.
The Conference also included an exhibition area, where participants from all over the world presented their latest technologies, accomplishments and approaches in the Earthquake Engineering and Seismology fields. Among the international participants in the Fair were EU-CONEXUS representatives from UTCB, both Staff members and students. International participants stopped by and discovered who we are and what we do as a European University on smart urban coastal areas.
