The 2nd edition of our PhD Week brought together 200 attendees
On 11-15 December, the 2nd edition of EU-CONEXUS PhD Week took place online. It was dedicated to PhD supervisors, PhD students and postdoctoral student community from EU-CONEXUS universities and international partners: I. I. Mechnikov Odessa National University and Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (University of Cape Coast). This series of info sessions bring our PhD community together and encourage new joint academic and research initiatives.
The sessions gathered a total of 200 attendees. For the 1st time, the event also included a matchmaking session dedicated exclusively to PhD supervisors on Doctoral research. It invited PhD supervisors working in EU-CONEXUS partner universities to meet, discuss topics of interest, and share best practices. During this session, supervisors were also informed about EU-CONEXUS opportunities that are being developed to facilitate easier communication: Research Mobility calls and RIIS platform.
PhD Week is a unique opportunity to familiarize participants with the full scope of EU-CONEXUS activities, which are aimed at developing transversal and smart urban coastal sustainable skills through a wide range of academic opportunities annually.
Sessions dedicated to PhD and postdoctoral students addressed:
- The mission and results of the EU-CONEXUS (information sessions)
- 10 EU-CONEXUS PhD Open Courses on Transversal and Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability skills (teacher presentations)
- Research development opportunities: Research Mobility and research grants, Joint Research Institutes, EU-CONEXUS Student Research Hub, SEED Funding and Project Development Office
- Professional development & engagement: EU-CONEXUS Career Center, Student Board, Students Project calls, Students Ambassador Programme, Cultural calls, Innovation Contest and 4th PhD Summer School
The event also included a EU-CONEXUS PhD Students Virtual Conference with 3 presentations on joint research abstracts developed by PhD students, and a networking session.
