EU-CONEXUS Mobility Enables SETU Lecturer to Present at International Conference on Application of Optics and Photonics
Dr Haider Al-Juboori, a lecturer in the Department of Electronics Engineering and Communications at SETU Carlow, attended the 6th International Conference on the Application of Optics and Photonics. It took place on 16-19 July 2024 at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. Dr Al-Juboori successfully applied for an EU-CONEXUS mobility fund under the topic of Call for Participation in International Conferences on Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability.
EU-CONEXUS Mobility Fund: Open to All SETU Staff
The EU-CONEXUS Mobility Fund is an offering for all universities within the EU-CONEXUS alliance. SETU staff can apply under three categories: Call for Research Mobility for EU-CONEXUS Alliance Members, Call for Invitation of External Experts, and Call for Participation in International Conferences on Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability. Dr Al-Juboori submitted an application form along with conference details and his CV and was awarded a mobility fund for attendance. The objective of the International Conference mobility is to support attendance in relevant international conferences on Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability topics with the aim of presenting research results and technological developments, expanding networks, and increasing the visibility of the Alliance.

Dr Al-Juboori presented a keynote at AOP 2024, explaining how advanced diagnostic technologies, such as laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), achieve several sustainable development goals (SDGs) through case studies. Reflecting on his participation, Dr Al-Juboori noted numerous professional and personal benefits.
