2024 Call for Invitation of External Experts
Objectives
This mobility call aims to:
- Invite excellent researchers on topics of Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability (SmUCS) from outside the Alliance to EU-CONEXUS partner institutions;
- Expand the network of he EU-CONEXUS Alliance;
- Enhance competencies of the EU-CONEXUS research community on SmUCS-related topics.
Background
EU-CONEXUS is a transnational European higher education and research institution for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability (SmUCS).
The focus of EU-CONEXUS education, research & innovation, and knowledge-sharing activities is on defining, understanding and addressing societal challenges experienced by communities in urban and semi-urbanised coastal regions (rivers, seas and oceans).
Partners of the Alliance are La Rochelle Université, Agricultural University of Athens, Catholic University of Valencia, Klaipeda University, University of Zadar, Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest, South East Technological University, University of Rostock and Frederick University.
Eligibility
WHO:
Researchers/experts from institutions (universities, research institutes and companies) outside of the EU-CONEXUS Alliance.
WHAT:
Research/training activities at EU-CONEXUS Universities or key lectures at conferences organised by the EU-CONEXUS Alliance. Presentations of the external experts may be made available publicly within EU-CONEXUS as streamed scientific talks/lectures.
DURATION:
Between 3 and 10 working days (not including transfer days). Mobilities of the 2024 call should be realised by 31 March 2025.
Applications must be submitted by the inviting institution.
Applications shall contain:
- Application form with the contact details, objectives, expected results, and working plan;
- Confirmation of the external expert;
- CV of the external expert.
The applications can be submitted to externalexperts@eu-conexus.eu any time until 31 January 2025.
A review panel consisting of representatives from the partner universities jointly evaluate the applications based on clear criteria. The evaluation will take place on four dates (1 April, 1 July and 1 October 2024 as well as 1 February 2025).
The selection is based on criteria guaranteeing a fair evaluation of the applications and does not give priority to any applicant depending on his/her nationality, race, religion or gender.
The following criteria will be considered for the selection of the mobility:
1. Overall objectives and expected results (max. 5 points)
2. SmUCS research-related research/teaching/lecturing content (max. 5 points)
3. Partnerships, collaborative efforts and benefits for the Alliance (max. 5 points)
In case of equal points, priority will be given to associated partners of the Alliance and less represented genders. In case of any objection at any stage of the application and selection process, the applicant may file his/her appeal to the Coordination Committee.
Reimbursement of travel costs will be done according to the internal policy of purchases of EU-CONEXA. EU-CONEXA is a Belgian non-profit association managing common funds for the Alliance members. For more information (maximum refund, required documents, pre-payment etc.), please refer to the EU-CONEXA Travelling Rules (links to Annex 4). The maximum refund listed in the EU-CONEXA Travelling Rules serves as reference for mobilities within Europe.
Mobilities with higher cost expectations (e.g., travel from non-European countries) will be evaluated by EU-CONEXA individually. Financial support may not be used to cover similar expenses financed by other funds.
After selection / during mobility:
After being selected, invited experts will be put in contact with EU-CONEXA regarding the hotel/ticket booking for their mobility. Visits of experts may be announced on the website of EU-CONEXUS. It is compulsory to include the EU-CONEXUS logos in all presentations, documents and materials prepared. Social media posts shall include #EUCONEXUS.
After mobility
Candidates will be invited to fill out a short questionnaire to give feedback and evaluate the mobility.
