Welcome to Rostock to the participants of the 2024 #EUCONEXUS PhD Summer School!

The fourth PhD Summer School “Interdisciplinary Research Methodology and Communication for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability” kicked off at the @unirostock yesterday with a full day of lectures, presentations, networking and a Welcome BBQ. During his welcoming remarks, @jean_marc_ogier , EU-CONEXUS Chair of the Governing Board and President of @univlarochelle emphasised the importance of breaking out of research silos to work interdisciplinary and collaboratively in order to tackle the sustainability challenges facing coastal ecosystems.

In addition to their interdisciplinary group work, a variety of lectures and networking events, participants will visit the Rostock City Hall as well as the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research (IOW) in Warnemünde during their stay in the @hrorathaus

The PhD Summer School organised by @utcbro takes place annually on the campus of one of the EU-CONEXUS universities.

🔬🌊👨‍💻 Our BLUE GROWTH LEADERS ACADEMY 2024 highlighted the connection to citizens and public engagement for sustainable port development.

The second “Blue Growth Leaders Academy” organised by #EUCONEXUS culminated with a two-day in-person workshop hosted by the @universidadcatolicavalencia last week. About 20 participants from nine countries came together after two months of online workshops to

🔬🏗️ Blue Growth Leaders Academy is a EU-CONEXUS initiative that aims to transfer academic experiences and knowledge to companies and decision makers in ports and urban development industries. The goal of this “Academy of Leaders for Sustainable Growth” is to create change leaders for urban coastal sustainability with a focus on port areas and urban cities.

Ester Olivas, Director for Internationalisation and Entrepreneurship, opening speech at the Blue Innovation Day, on 11 July in Valencia, Spain, together with José María Tormos, vice-rector of Research at the UCV, acknowledged that the Blue Innovation Day “is a demonstration of our commitment to the idea of Think Different in order to expand our knowledge and respond to the pressing problems of sustainability and the survival of certain species; to maintain the balance between ecosystems and, in this way, to return the sea to its crystal-clear blue”.

The event promoted international expansion of marine biotechnology through universities, students, researchers and experts by:
✅Sharing valuable information on the marine biotechnology sector
✅Networking and synergies to create new projects
✅Pool of talents with the innovations made by the students of the joint Master’s Degree in Biotechnology of the EU-CONEXUS alliance in the research groups and their partner universities.

👩‍🎓✨Greetings to our first 23 graduates from 17 nationalities who have graduated from #EUCONEXUS joint Master programme in #MarineBiotechnology

12 July 2024 the graduation ceremony gathered the rectors or their delegates, academic and administrative staff of 9 EU-CONEXUS universities, representatives from economic partners and public authorities. The graduation stoles and temporary certificates were awarded to the graduates of the first class of the Master in the presence of their families and friends and 391 watchers in live streaming.

This Master has an opportunity to support the studies for the students from all the countries thanks to #ErasmusMundus project of the #EuropeanCommission. Many of the graduates acknowledged that without this scholarship this career would not have been possible.

The 23rd Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer Ac

The 23rd Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer Academy has kicked off at Klaipeda University with a record-breaking number of participants! This year, 250 students from 33 countries are diving into Lithuanian language and culture. 🇱🇹🌍

The Academy features:
1️⃣ Lithuanian language courses
2️⃣ Programmes for teachers of Lithuanian abroad
3️⃣ Courses for Ukrainian refugees to aid integration

Contest exemplifies EU-CONEXUS’s mission to raise awareness about the environmental challenges confronting coastal areas. It serves as a bridge between national schools across our partners and it helps achieve, through a transdisciplinary approach on SmUCS topics.
