From 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟰–𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, students from Lithuania, Spain, France, and Greece participated in practical courses as part of the EU-CONEXUS Minor in Aquaculture at the @agricultural_university_athens , organized by the Laboratory of Applied Hydrobiology.

Under the guidance of Professors Emmanouil Malandrakis & Arkadios Dimitroglou, participants gained hands-on experience in:
✔️ Fish anatomy
✔️ Fish anaesthesia
✔️ Water quality analysis
✔️ Live prey hatching 🐠

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗯 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀❓
Open Lab Hours (OLH) are short 5-day training sessions on research topics provided by an intra-alliance team of mentors. They are designed for undergraduate and post-graduate master students of EU-CONEXUS universities with a keen interest in exploring research avenues related to Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability.

During OLH, students will gain essential competencies from various alliance partners. Each OLH will take place in a hybrid format, combining simultaneously:

🔹 𝗢𝗻-𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 provided by the home University, focusing on advanced instrumentation and specimen/data collection;

🔹 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 featuring literature search, specialized software implementation, research methods, ethics, scientific writing, and preparation for international competitions.

From Vacant to Vibrant: Citizens Reclaiming Unused Urban Spaces With Nature

The 1st of a five-part international online event series as part of the #DivAirCityProject has just been launched!

🗓️ Wednesday, 27th November, 2 PM GMT

Running from November 2024 to May 2025, each event will be led by a different city, with each focusing on a unique topic, relevant to the project and also the challenges in their city.

👏 Delighted that in this project our partners from @utcbro - Bucharest District 2 and the City of Klaipeda are also involved.

The first event will be led by the city of Aarhus in Denmark, setting the stage for inspiring discussions on how citizens can reclaim unused urban spaces and co-create nature-based solutions as powerful tools for mobilizing communities.

We hope this series will inspire a collective movement towards greener, more inclusive urban spaces, where communities play a central role in shaping their future.

🤝 @frederick_university was honoured to welcome Prof. @jean_marc_ogier , Chair of the Governing Board of EU-CONEXUS and President of @univlarochelle , along with Dr. @ibaereiselt , Executive Director of EU-CONEXUS, to Cyprus. University officials provided a tour of the Nicosia and Limassol campuses and hosted a dinner with ambassadors from the countries represented in EU-CONEXUS, highlighting the strategic collaboration among the nine European universities.

🧑‍⚕️ During their visit to the Nicosia campus, the EU-CONEXUS representatives met with Ms. @natassa_frederickou , President of the University’s Council, and Dr. Christoforos Charalambous, Vice President. They received an overview of the University’s research activities and toured the Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biotechnology Research Lab. The visit also included a meeting with Prof. Byron Ioannou, Head of the Department of Architectural Engineering, focusing on Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability through innovative research initiatives.

At the Limassol campus, the delegation met with Dr. Angelos Menelaou, Head of the Maritime Transport and Commerce Department, to discuss departmental research tackling marine pollution and supporting Limassol’s goal to become climate-neutral. 🌱

🥳 Additionally, Prof. Costas Mantzalos from the University’s Department of Arts and Communication provided a briefing on the upcoming EU-CONEXUS festival, which is scheduled to take place in Limassol in May 2025. #europeanuniversities #meeting #EUCONEXUS #cyprus
